About the opportunity

Inland Rail launches its Graduate intake for a July 24 Intake.

You will join us on Monday 1st July 2024.

We have an opportunity for a graduate to join the Communication and Marketing teams dedicated to the Inland Rail Program kick-starting their careers working on Australia’s largest and most technically complex freight rail infrastructure program.

You will participate in a structured two-year program, which includes at least 3 rotations. In our state-of-the-art Brisbane office, you will gain exposure to several disciplines within the team giving you a good understanding of the critical role communication and marketing department play in a project environment.  

On completion, you will have the opportunity to work in roles across Inland Rail until it is scheduled for operation in 2027.

Main responsibilities

  1. You will work under the guidance of Communication and Marketing Managers to provide support across Communications and Marketing to positively position Inland Rail and communicate effectively, both internally and externally, supporting the Program’s delivery.
  2. Key focus areas include supporting; communication for the program and projects, marketing activity and advertising, digital content, design and communication to support Program goals.


Your development program will see you, and will not be limited to:

  • In the Marketing space:

    • Assist in the event management for conferences and speaking opportunities;

    • Help manage and leverage Program wide marketing sponsorship opportunities;

    • Assist in the development of advertising material including liaising with media agencies and owners.

  • In the Program and Internal Communications space;

    • Provide support for the development and implementation of a range of strategic internal and program communications programs initiatives;

    • Support the delivery of the Inland Rail internal advocacy campaign;

    • Create content and update the Inland Rail intranet homepage and news;

  • In the Project Communications space;

    • Assist with collating information and content to support project-specific eDMs and newsletters;

    • Assist with sourcing/prepping talent for video stories

    • Assist in the reporting requirements on a monthly and quarterly basis;

  • In the Digital Engagement and Creative space;

    • Curate ideas and content for the social media team

    • Assist with community management – sentiment tagging, reporting and responding to social media audiences;

    • Assist with website document uploads ensuring they meet Inland Rail accessibility standards.

About you

We are seeking enthusiastic graduates who are invested in and committed to their personal and professional development. To be eligible for consideration, you should have completed a Bachelor's in communication, marketing, creative industries and/or related disciplines in the last two years, as well as:

  • Desire to learn and gain experience in managing marketing and communications for major industry/infrastructure projects/programs;

  • Demonstrable ability to work in an organised, well-ordered, and autonomous manner;

  • Highly developed written and oral communication and presentation skills;

  • Highly developed problem-resolution and interpersonal skills;

  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills; and,

  • High-level skills in Microsoft Office programs, especially Word and PowerPoint.
