Your role

The Hatch Vacation Student Program provides the opportunity to work on real projects and gain practical industry skills. They will help you through the transition, bridging the gap between your education and career.

Within the Ports and Terminals Group, the core work will be the structural engineering of maritime structures such as wharves, jetties, shiploaders, and seawalls. You will design concrete and steel structural members to Australian and International Standards using structural design packages. They can also support you to gain exposure to a complimentary area of your interest, for example, project management, master planning, smart ports, automation, asset management or coastal processes.

The Professional Development Program

As a Vacation Student with Hatch, you will build professional relationships with renowned experts, and champion great initiatives for reputable, well-known clients. You will belong to a company that fosters career growth, encourages continuous improvement and is pioneering in nature. The 12-week program commences on Monday, 18 Nov 2024. During this time Hatch will have its annual office closure from COB Friday, 20 December 2024 and will reopen Monday, 6 January 2025.

About you

Qualifications:

  • You will be working towards a bachelor's/master’s degree in Structural Engineering, ideally in your third year (or later) of study,  with a strong academic record
  • Candidates will have exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and will be collaborators with the ability to think laterally and innovatively to solve problems
  • You will also have an interest in exploring a future with a global consulting company and are committed to creating positive change.
