Job Description

Friendship Circle is seeking passionate individuals to join the Friendship Bakery Production and Skills Development Team. This is a hands-on opportunity for a talented person to gain experience in the hospitality industry with a top class pastry chef while making a huge difference in the lives of young people with disabilities. The ideal candidate would enjoy working in a busy retail bakery, have good interpersonal skills, and appreciate food presentations.

Friendship Bakery is a friendly non-profit neighbourhood bakery that connects people in the community with and without disabilities around the production and sale of delicious baked goods.

Hours: 4-hour shifts between 9.00 am-1.00 pm Monday - Thursday. Potential to take several shifts per week or other production roles in the afternoon.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team responsibilities
    • Create a positive team working environment
    • Regular and open communication with the team via SMS, WhatsApp, phone and email
    • Support program strategies to achieve Friendship Bakery's vision
    • Delivery in line with ethos of Friendship CI
  • Production - Assist in product preparation and baking
    • Weighing and measuring ingredients
    • Mixing and moulding bread and cookie doughs by hand
    • Operate commercial bakery equipment including hot/heavy items
    • Package baked good
    • Keeping production and shop areas clean and tidy
  • Train Bakers of all abilities
    • Support bakers to complete assigned tasks and develop skills
    • Model good work ethic and contribute to an inclusive environment
    • Socialize bakers towards greater awareness of the entire business
    • Work with bakers, parents and professionals to create and achieve individual life skill and employment skill goals.
    • Regular communication with bakers and parents for continued improvement.
  • Risk Management
    • Comply with WHS and Food Health and Safety standards and attend workshops as needed
    • Actively contribute to a safe environment
    • Report any incident or new risks identified directly to Production Manager
  • Other
    • Assist in retail shop as needed
