Culture at EY Australia

7.8
7.8 rating for Culture, based on 21 reviews
Please describe your company's culture both in the office and after hours. Let us know about the structure and hierarchy, cooperation and teamwork, and socialising amongst colleagues.
The company's culture is extremely professional, with a strong focus on technical excellence. Cooperation and teamwork exists in engagement teams, however, is siloed in this manner. There is corporate culture present outside of work hours but it is not strong with events occurring sporadically throughout the year.

Inclusive and very rarely do you experience a hierarchy gap

It is a lovely culture, the best I've experienced so far.
Midlevel, Perth - 12 Oct 2021
Friendly staff, though high turnover.

Awesome culture. Lots of support through the buddy system and counsellors

There's a reason we are known as the people firm. People are really supportive to help you be successful. Success is measured by outcomes, not how many hours you are in the office. As somewhat expected, the hours are long, partly due to a number of initiatives outside of client work which is encouraged at all ranks. While there is defined ranks, your impact, independent of rank is what is measured, noticed and supported. We work in a highly collaborative manner, much more than other firms I have been at which are quite siloed. We are a huge organisation with lots of opportunities to connect with individuals from across the firm.

great team environment with everyone always lending a hand and good social aspects
Midlevel, Sydney - 28 Sep 2021
Inclusive work culture, however even as a cadet overtime is expected. The team has flat structure, you work with everyone. Juniors do not really get the opportunity to interface with clients.
Intern, Sydney - 28 Sep 2021
The culture is overall very good and supportive.
Graduate, Melbourne - 28 Sep 2021
Team members are generally good, however leaders aren't inspirational and don't treat us well.
Midlevel, Sydney - 25 Sep 2021
In one word, I would describe our culture as supportive. The buddy and counsellor system gives day-to-day and career support during your time at the firm and encourages each person to meet their career goals. Team members will consistently show up to develop the skills of others and provide constructive feedback. There is also a strong social culture where teams will enjoy dinners and social activities together out of hours.

The culture is very friendly across all levels of staff both in and out of the office. It is hard to get to know the other service lines however as they are on different floors.
Midlevel, Perth - 21 Sep 2021
Very welcoming, easy going and friendly. Can be surface level and only maintained by food/drinks rather than genuine friendships. Work becomes priority which can be hard for people to commit to catch ups. In terms of hierarchy, everyone is easy to interact with. Not intimidating for lower levels to speak to higher levels and be honest about questions/feedback.

Excellent culture during and after work hours
Graduate, Perth - 16 Sep 2021
Very inclusive, many events to help everyone feel connected. Although there is a formal hierarchy, it does not feel that way when talking to the team.
Midlevel, Brisbane - 16 Sep 2021
Depending on what team you are a part of, the culture can vary greatly. Our team has been organising more team events to foster more culture and the Partners do care about our wellbeing
