What if your career could have a lasting impact on you, and on the world?

At EY we believe that whoever you are, your uniqueness helps us stand apart. We bring together extraordinary people, like you, to build a better working world. Through our coaching and training programs, you’ll develop the skillsets you need to stay relevant today, and in the future – all while building a network of colleagues, mentors, and leaders who will be on the journey with you at EY and beyond. The exceptional EY experience. It's yours to build.

What’s in it for you?

As part of our Audit team in Canberra, you will be a part of a close-knit team and receive great support for your personal and professional development. We’ll help you achieve your career goals with early responsibility and continuous support. Working alongside experienced professionals, you’ll work as part of a team to help our clients meet their reporting requirements by accurately reporting on financial statements and providing meaningful insights into accounting, financial sustainability, controls and processes, and strategic direction. In return, we’ll provide you with the tools, the technology, and the opportunities so you can inspire change and open doors. You can expect leading-edge learning and development tailored to your unique interests and motivations, including support in undertaking the Chartered Accountants Program.

You can expect to be part of a young and vibrant team that enjoy the social aspects of working as a team. We have some of the most sophisticated audit clients in Canberra and the surrounding regions – ranging from brand name technology companies, some of Australia’s most interesting commercial Government enterprises, an iconic Canberra sports team, and a number of Australia’s largest defence industry companies providing services to the Department of Defence.

Your key responsibilities

  • Constantly developing your understanding of current market trends and processes
  • Demonstrating you are a team player, with strong communication skills, and an attitude to learn and grow
  • Participating in audit discussions with the team
  • Preparing audit documentation with appropriate consideration of audit risk issues and accounting technical matters, with guidance from your teams
  • Engaging with clients to understand processes and transactions and identifying areas for improvement in clients’ business processes
  • Understanding our client's unique ambitions and needs and considering how that might add to audit risk

Eligibility

To apply for our part-time student opportunity, you are required to:

  • To have completed your first year of study and be in your second year of university bachelor’s degree OR currently studying master’s degree
  • Currently studying for a degree with a major in accounting
  • To hold an Australian Citizenship
  • To be available to start part-time work for 2 to 3 days a week

What you can expect

  • All candidates are required to submit an online application attaching their passport (or alternative ID), CV and academic transcript
  • All eligible candidates will be invited to complete an online application form
  • Once we review your application and assessment results, you may be invited to an interview

We recommend applying early as we will be recruiting on an ongoing basis, and positions will close once filled.

Please note we have a rigorous recruitment process in place for our student roles so it may take us some time to get back to you.
