Opportunity Expired
We are looking for a Library Assistant to join our Primary Library.
The Library Assistant (K-6) is central to our Primary library, creating a warm and welcoming place for our entire School community. More than just helping to facilitate our students engaging in the services of the library, they play a key role in fostering a love of reading and literacy for students of all ages, interests and abilities. This is achieved through their everyday interactions with students, providing support to our teachers inside and outside of the classroom and creating engaging displays to encourage students to try different genres, titles and mediums.
The Library Assistant (K-6) ensures the efficiency and effectiveness of operations within the physical library, allowing the Head of Library & Information Services (K-6) to focus on library learning programs, curriculum support and literacy and literature promotion.
In addition to the standard duties of a library assistant, (which include operating our library “help desk” and assisting with borrowing and returning), the Library Assistant (K-6) also provides classroom & small group support, assisting with library and whole school events and creating fun and engaging displays in the library.
This is a permanent, part-time (0.8FTE), term-time only position available from the start of Term 2, 24 April 2023 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The suitable candidate will have an Australian-recognised library technician/assistant qualification, hold a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC) and have experience in a similar role and/or school environment. Experience or qualifications as a Teacher’s Aide would be highly regarded but are not essential
