Your role

They are looking for 4 interns to join the Sydney office in the Summer of 2024-2025.

As an Intern, you will:

  • Approach every day with an open mind and an eagerness to learn.
  • Join one of their existing engineering teams and help them improve the product by implementing real features.
  • Learn and develop best practices on both front-end and back-end projects.
  • Produce high-quality code measured by senior engineers in code reviews.
  • Make recommendations to improve the product or development processes.

Why join Displayr?

  • You can work with, and follow the path of many previous interns who grew into various levels of software engineering positions in Displayr. Last year they hired most of their interns.
  • At Displayr you are not just a cog in a large engine. You’ll be able to see the decisions you make have a tangible impact.
  • If you want to work on big thorny problems that will build upon, test, and show off your exceptional technical skills, then you’ll thrive at Displayr.
  • Displayr is entirely bootstrapped and continues to grow safely.
  • They prefer evidence over intuition, experience, and "best practice".
  • They work hard to make the best idea win, not the idea of the most experienced person.
  • International company - offices in Sydney, Chicago, and London.

About you

Qualifications:

  • Currently in your third or final year of a Software Engineering or Computer Science Degree at an Australian University.
  • Are available to work part-time during term time and full-time over Summer 2023-2024 from their head office in Pyrmont, Sydney.
  • Have a WAM >75 or have some other evidence of exceptional ability/experience/achievements. The work they do is extremely challenging. They are after students with the smarts to grasp what they are doing quickly so you are able to contribute during your internship.
  • Are based in Australia, with full working rights or the appropriate working visa, and live in Sydney or are planning to relocate to Sydney from within Australia, for the duration of your internship

In addition, you should also be:

  • Clear, concise, and courteous in your communication.
  • Curious, innovative and ready to learn.
  • Passionate about programming and software design.
  • A collaborative team player with the desire to improve your skills.

Their Tech Stack

  • Front-end: TypeScript/JavaScript/React.
  • Back-end: C#, SQL.
  • Supporting systems: C#, Python, R, Rust, Node.js.
  • Platforms: Azure, AWS, Kubernetes.

Compensation & benefits

At Displayr, you will receive an attractive hourly rate of AUD 40 per hour (including superannuation) as well as the following benefits:

  • Opportunity to learn from some of the most brilliant minds in tech.
  • Relaxed, autonomous workplace and culture.
  • Flexible working hours.
  • Collaborative Working Space
  • Free Meals
  • Head office by the water in Pyrmont, Sydney, with access to a pool and tennis court.

Training & development

From day one you’ll be stepping into a high-trust environment, where you’ll be given a serious degree of autonomy and flexibility to make your mark on their apps and crack the biggest problem in data science: it’s just too difficult.

And while you’ll have the space and independence to do your best work, you’ll also be backed up by a world-class team of some of the brightest in the industry. Their team is constantly iterating, solving problems, and collaborating on ways to make it easier for anyone to pull stories out of data.

Career progression

At Displayr, a fast-growing start-up, interns are encouraged to seize opportunities to develop their skills and make a significant impact, with the chance to progress into part-time or full-time graduate roles. Many former interns have successfully transitioned into different levels of software engineering positions, with the majority securing full-time employment.
