Your role

The role of this position is to:

  • Conduct clinical interviews with sentenced prisoners to assess treatment suitability, responsivity factors and sequencing of interventions
  • Administer, score and interpret psychometric assessment tools to determine the risk of recidivism and treatment needs for sentenced prisoners
  • Prepare Treatment Assessment Reports for inclusion in offender’s Individual Management Plans
  • Prepare Treatment Assessment Reports for sentenced prisoners within designated timeframes

About you

Eligibility to apply:

  • Evidence of a four-year accredited degree in Psychology or Social Work is an essential requirement for this position.
  • Applicants are advised of the mandatory vaccination policy for various occupations and workforces in WA. To be considered for employment in this role, applicants will need to provide evidence of their vaccination status (unless a valid medical exemption is granted by the Chief Health Officer (CHO)).

Department of Justice WA is seeking professionals who can demonstrate:

  • Knowledge of offender rehabilitation and how this relates to the assessment and treatment of offending behaviour.
  • Good oral and written communication skills, including a demonstrated understanding of effective interviewing techniques.
  • Effective planning and organisational skills to achieve goals within the determined timeframes.
  • The ability to conceptualise and utilise analytical skills in the assessment of individuals’ needs, including an acknowledgement and appreciation of a breadth of cultural, social and personal differences.

A C Class Driver’s License is highly desirable as this position will be required to work across multiple prison locations within the metropolitan area and will therefore involve travel.
