Your role

You will be required to fulfil the responsibilities of this role in accordance with the Queensland Public Service values. After the 12-month training, you will apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.

Key responsibilities

  • Adhere to defined service quality standards, health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
  • After training undertake diagnostic testing and related duties following Pathology Queensland established accredited protocols and standards within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards. Perform a diverse range of technical and scientific tasks, from routine to complex, which is of a consistently high standard.
  • After training apply independent scientific judgement in the analysis of patient specimens leading to the verification and validation of test results and the provision of advice to the clinical unit where appropriate.
  • Solve complex technical problems with minimal practice supervision.
  • As part of a team provide day to day service in the technical sphere of responsibility [which may include repairs, preventative maintenance, installation or commissioning of equipment, complex tests or sample analysis.

About you

Qualifications, registrations and other requirements

  • The successful applicant must hold at least a relevant tertiary degree (or equivalent) qualification in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • During the training period the Graduate will be expected to work on a shift roster for a minimum of 4 weeks.
  • The Graduate may be required to work in a rural or remote laboratory during the program.
  • This position is extra nummary to the staffing level of the laboratory and should not be used to support vacancies in rosters.
  • You may be required to work in different locations during the course of the graduate program.
  • Please detail any visa conditions you may have if you are not a permanent resident of Australia.
  • They understand that some people may require adjustments to the workplace or the way the work is performed. All applicants are encouraged to advise the panel of any support or reasonable adjustments (i.e. building access, wheelchair access, interpreting services etc.) that may be required.
  • A general criminal history check must be performed on all new employees to Pathology Queensland.

Compensation & benefits

As a graduate, you will receive a fortnightly salary of AUD 2,941.70 to AUD 4,459.00 and benefits such as:
