Your role

The Law Clerkship Program is a flexible program and can run for a period of up to 8 months depending on the dates and availability of the successful applicants. The clerkship does allow you to engage with the organisational culture, establish networks, and build industry-specific skills.

The Law Clerk undertakes a range of administrative and research activities and supports the delivery of legal services provided by Legal. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of matters and gain practical skills.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist the team in the delivery of a range of legal matters and projects
  • Undertake legal research and analysis
  • Contribute to the preparation of correspondence, papers, and minutes
  • Provide a range of administrative activities and respond to routine queries to provide consistent information.

About you

You will be in your penultimate or final year of a law degree (whether an undergraduate Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or postgraduate Juris Doctor (JD).

 In addition to meeting the essential requirements, the successful candidate must have:

  • A strong academic record
  • Well-developed legal research and writing skills, and
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Compensation & benefits

Law Clerks will be paid a salary at the clerk grade 1/2 level, currently AUD 70,694 - AUD 76,857 per annum plus the employer’s contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Training & development
