We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Residential Drafting Cadet or Junior Drafting professional to join our team and work with out current Head Draftsperson.

Job Description: As a Residential Drafting Cadet or Junior Drafting professional, you will work closely with our senior drafter and project managers to develop detailed drawings and plans for residential projects. This entry-level position is perfect for recent graduates or individuals looking to start their careers in drafting and design, and those also wanting to be gain an understanding of Estimation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of architectural drawings and construction documents using ArchiCAD software.
  • Create accurate construction plans which incorporate site plans, floor plans, elevations, sections, electrical and steel construction plan layouts.
  • Interpret and analyse building codes, regulations, and client requirements.
  • Revise and update drawings based on feedback from project managers and clients.
  • Conduct site visits and measurements as required.
  • Maintain organised project files and documentation.
  • Stay updated with industry trends and best practices in residential drafting.
  • Problem-solve issues arising from visual, construction, or design constraints.
  • Respond to critical needs as identified by the workflow team.
  • Liaise with your manager to resolve any issues requiring technical or design involvement or clarification.
  • Check every job prior to issuing to ensure project design standards and covenants are adhered to.
  • Ensure systems and data recording are continually updated to reflect the job's progress within our workflow.

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience as a residential draftsperson or building designer.
  • Proficiency in ArchiCAD software.
  • Experience in the preparation of drawings and documents, including preliminary drawings, performance specifications, BASIX requirements, Principal’s Project Requirements, BCA / NCC, Design and Building Practitioners Act and Regulations, passive fire design requirements, Council conditions, and all statutory requirements; including submissions on the NSW Planning Portal.
  • Understanding of construction methods.
  • Ability to sketch details to visualise and explain construction drawings.
  • Ability to interpret planning documents, maps, and schemes for compliance.
  • Ability to follow instructions as well as use initiative when working autonomously or in a team.
  • Team player with a strong work ethic.
  • Good attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Good communication skills in English – both oral and written.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in residential drafting or related field (internships or part-time work).
  • Knowledge of 3D modelling software.
  • Familiarity with sustainable building practices and materials.

  • Must be based in Australia.
  • Office location is Central Coast based.
