ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

Council's Audit, Risk and Safety team are seeking an individual with a passion for Work Health and Safety to join the team in this exciting role. The Work Health and Safety Business Partner, is responsible for creating a positive work, health and safety culture throughout Council, and in particular the corporate/indoor related Directorates. This role is required to work across multiple Council sites across the Local Government Area.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in the areas of WHS and/or demonstrated extensive industry experience
  • Proven demonstrated experience in the development, implementation, review and analysis of WHSMS, programs and its application to business and process
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, as well as the ability to influence and guide others in a constructive manner
  • Experience in statistical data analysis, review and improve operational processes as well as reporting of Information to key stakeholders within the organisation
  • Strong planning and prioritisation skills to plan and organise work as well as the ability to develop and deliver practical solutions across the organisation
  • Sound knowledge of and the capacity to implement EEO, WHS, ethical work practices and cultural diversity principles
  • Computer literacy proficient in the use of MS Word, PowerPoint
  • Class C drivers licence.

Position information: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Accrued Day Off (ADO) arrangement.

This role is located at Council's Merrylands office, and may be required to work across any of Council's work locations from time to time. Hybrid working arrangements are available in accordance with Council's Working from Home Procedure.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 10 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $76,148 to $87,570 per annum, plus 10.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiable within  the salary range as stated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
  • Council leaseback vehicle
