Cumberland City Council empowers today's children, operating across a total of 14 Education and Care centres including long daycare and out of school hours (OOSH). Education and Care staff assist in the delivery of an innovative and educational program that provides a warm and caring environment that enriches and enhances the lives of children attending the centres.

The Educator - Early Childhood develops key relationships with Education and Care staff, children and their families, working as part of a multidisciplinary team where positive communication is paramount.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent approved by ACECQA, or working towards the completion within 12 months
  • Valid Working with Children Check Clearance Number
  • Child Protection course approved by the NSW Regulatory Authority (s162A Education and Care Services National Law) (or willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Certificate as approved by ACECQA (or willing to obtain)
  • Completion of Food Handler/Safety Training (or willing to obtain)
  • Proven skills and experience in the following areas:
  • Education and care
  • Customer service
  • Communication skills in a written and oral format
  • Computer operating systems
  • Effective time management and organisational skills.

Position information: This is a permanent, full-time position, working a 70 hour fortnight, with access to Council's 9 day fortnight Rostered Day Off (RDO) arrangement.

This role is required to work at any one of the Council's 14 Education and Care centres.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $1,016.79 to $1,169.31 per week, plus 10% superannuation
The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role.
Council fully supports the aims and objectives of NSW Child Protection Legislation, and associated provisions, and will implement all necessary measures to ensure a safe and supporting Council environment, which endeavours to promote child-safe child-friendly practices. It is essential for applicants to submit their WWCC number with their application. It is an offence under NSW legislation for barred workers to apply for or otherwise attempt to obtain, undertake or remain in child-related employment.
