Your role

The Citrus Horticultural Graduate program offers a specialized career path within Costa's Citrus Category. Graduates in this program will receive dedicated training and guidance from experienced staff members as they take on a focused set of responsibilities. The program has two openings, one located in Emerald, New South Wales (NSW), and the other in Renmark, South Australia (SA).

In this role, the graduate will play a key role in supporting and implementing agronomy programs and innovation projects designed to improve yield, fruit quality, and the overall sustainability of Costa's citrus farming operations. Key responsibilities include data collection and analysis to inform best practices and commercial outcomes, as well as initiating, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating field trials. The program also involves reviewing scientific literature relevant to ongoing projects, communicating best practice updates to agronomy teams and farm managers, and providing hands-on guidance for successful implementation. Additionally, the Citrus Horticultural Graduate will undertake farm assessments and technical activities such as crop estimates, leaf and soil sampling, fruit growth measurements, and data analysis.

About you

To qualify for the Citrus Horticultural Graduate position, you must:

  • Be in your final year or have recently finished a bachelor’s or postgraduate degree. Of particular interest for Costa are degrees in:  
    • Agricultural Science, with a focus on horticulture
    • Horticulture
    • Science, with agricultural/horticultural components
    • Food Science
  • Hold a driver’s licence
  • Have your own personal reliable transport 
  • From time to time, be willing to travel and work in different sites
  • Be ready, willing, and available to commence on 10 February 2025

Training, development & rotations

The Rotational Graduate Program offers participants the chance to experience diverse areas of the horticulture industry. Over three rotations, participants will be placed in different regions and business categories, gaining exposure to a wide variety of produce such as citrus, grapes, berries, avocados, bananas, mushrooms, and tomatoes. They will be integrated into teams focused on horticulture, agronomy, growing, harvesting, irrigation, and/or safety and quality. This comprehensive program provides a strong foundation for a successful career in horticulture.
