Your role

The Berries Domestic Operations Graduate is a specialised Graduate position. As a graduate in this role, you are likely to kick off your career with a dedicated set of responsibilities – under the guidance of experienced staff members.

You will experience many aspects of operations management in the position but will spend the bulk of your time working with the irrigation teams. As an Operations Graduate, you will be working within the experienced Berry operations and irrigation teams. There are times you may be required to travel.

In this role, you will take on important responsibilities within the Operations team to support the effective supply of water and nutrients to the crops, the efficient construction and maintenance of their tunnel infrastructure and the effective planting of crops. The Operations team is responsible for the setup, monitoring and running of the growing systems, and as an Operations Graduate, you will be expected to take a leadership role in ensuring the success of this team.

The Berries Domestic business has substrate as well as soil-grown crop setups allowing you to become versatile in the management of both. As you grow into this role, you are likely to take on people management responsibilities, such as effective resource scheduling and managing employee performance. You are expected to allocate activities (such as block walks, uniformity tests and following the maintenance schedule), and monitor the completion of those.

Where required, you will be asked to assist in developing and/or initiating activities to improve crop performance through practical and research-based tasks.
