Being a Catering Assistant in Aged Care offers you a real way to make a difference whilst remaining in an industry you enjoy. (Great news if you’re looking for a fresh start!) Serving in the aged care sector requires a passion for serving great food, with the emphasis on ensuring meals look deliciously appetising when served to our residents. Getting a start in this industry opens doors for you to develop greater skills.

Skills and experience

  • Aged Care experience is desirable, but not necessary.
  • Reliable and punctual
  • Ability to multi-task and perform work within deadlines
  • Empathy and respect towards aged care residents, staff and clients.
  • The ability to support the chefs and the team in a busy kitchen.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing meal service to elderly residents
  • Cleaning of serveries and dining room set up
  • Adhering to and completing quality assurance documents
  • Washing dishes in the main kitchen and plating meals
  • Preparing salads and sandwiches in the main kitchen
  • Function set up and clear down
  • Assist the Chef and Chef Manager as required in day-to-day tasks
  • Food and beverage service
