I have been given amazing support and training from the moment I started. My manager (aka Line Leader) identified I was much younger than the other finance officers and appointment me a buddy (of similar age to myself) to show me around and familiarise myself with the systems and processes used at the Council. I have never been thrown in the deep end and there is lots of online training available to staff members if you need further support.

The City offers a huge range of personal and professional training. The best self series is seven modules; courageous conversations, managing burnouts, interviewee preparation, etc. We have been provided with mindset books etc

My onboarding for my specific role could have been more concrete to understand my responsibilities and to have more role clarity. The on boarding for the City as a company was in depth with so much to absorb but much of it was learning modules online. They are great but can be overloading.

There has been extensive personal and professional development training programs established for the graduates under the Graduate Program, including the 'best self series' which works on resilience, emotional intelligence, performance strategies etc, as well as other professional development programs such as 'presenting with confidence' to improve public speaking and giving of presentations etc.

I received a lot of formal training, such as best self-series session and presenting with confidence session. I have learned a lot from those session, especially my presentation skills, it helps me build up my confidence in public speaking.

It will vary between departments, but in my area I had a satisfactory amount of training and additional training which was highly informative.

The graduate program puts together a great training program, focusing on how to be your best self in the workplace. The focus on you and how to ensure you are performing your best in your position is great, as all graduates are different and a set training program on job specific things aren't useful to everyone in the program. The job specific training is provided within the teams themselves, so this varies from team to team. You are provided with a Line Leader who is in charge of your development and gives you a direct mentor to train you in job specific tasks. This one-on-one model is great, and ensures you learn all things necessary for your job - from software to procedures.
