Position Description
This an opportunity for someone who has, or is about to graduate, from their finance/accounting qualifications as there is a lot of variety for you to gain diverse experience.
Your role
- Monitor and update Council’s cashflow requirements, providing regular updates to the Manager of Finance.
- Monitor all accounts receivable transactions and collections to ensure money is receipted correctly against the general ledger and/or appropriate cost center.
- Oversee the customer service teams in ensuring the accurate daily cash reconciliation of all monies received, including the correct journal entry.
- Undertake end-of-month reconciliations and report any discrepancies to the Manager of Finance
- Assist the Management Accountant in the preparation and submission of GST and FBT returns.
- Reconcile monthly fuel charge accounting, including monitoring the fuel consumption of private use for the council fleet.
- Monitor the Suspense Account to ensure that all income and expenditures are journaled into the correct general ledger account.
- Act as Administrator for Finance System / Software, ensuring the organization is up to date with the latest versions, including the provision of training and support.
- Back up and assist with the completion of fortnightly Payroll activities as required.
