Your role

This innovative, progressive and responsive two-year program will support you to enter the Primary Health Care sector with confidence. This role is responsible for providing a high quality and culturally safe comprehensive primary health care to clients accessing Congress Clinics in Alice Springs and Amoonguna Community.

About you

The following are the requirements for this role:

Essential

  • Registration with AHPRA as a Registered/Enrolled Nurse or Aboriginal Health Practitioner, with a current AGV certificate or willingness to acquire same within 6 months of commencement.
  • Proven clinical experience or interest in developing experience in primary health care or appropriate clinical experience working in acute health care settings such as emergency departments with skills in planning, coordinating and decision-making within a clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate sensitively in a cross-cultural environment with Aboriginal clients and staff.
  • Understanding and commitment to Aboriginal health, the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control and knowledge of current issues affecting the lives of Aboriginal people.
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team maintaining professionalism, confidentiality and discretion. 6. Experience in utilising standard treatment manuals in a primary health care setting

Desirable

  • A person of Aboriginal descent; who self-identifies and is accepted as an Aboriginal person by the Aboriginal community.
  • Experience in remote primary health clinic environments
  • NT driver’s license or the ability to obtain one.

Compensation & benefits
