Your role

Cement Australia recognises the value graduates add to their business. So, they designed a 2-year graduate program that gives you meaningful work, access to experienced mentors and the opportunity to learn and grow.

They are looking to ultimately develop you into an Operations Manager or technical expert - in the future you could be leading teams, improving plant reliability or being the one who solves some of their most complex and challenging problems. You will be given day-to-day responsibilities, critical project work (even managing your own!) and both structured and on-the-job learning. There may also be the opportunity to complete short projects that take you to other sites to broaden your experience.

As an Electrical Automation & Control Engineer

In all corners of the business, automation and control is pivotal in ensuring their systems are reliably operating, programmed and tuned for safe and productive operations. Joining the Operations division, you will provide technical and engineering support to their varied sites in electrical and controls, either in-person or via remote support. This includes:

  • Identifying and managing risks
  • Analysing data and problem-solving issues
  • Ensuring systems are up to date and maintained in an active life cycle
  • Managing or contributing to continuous improvement projects
  • Capital projects and shutdown work, with the potential to enhance your leadership skills and supervise small teams.

Through this work, you will develop your understanding of the maintenance and asset management life cycle and make a valuable contribution to their sites.

About you

Qualifications

  • You have or are close to completing a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering or related degree with a genuine interest and passion in these fields (role commences January 2025 – or sooner if you are available!)
  • You have experience working in a team environment
  • You can build rapport and great relationships with a wide variety of people
  • You are resilient, tenacious and enjoy analysing data and problem-solving
  • You bring a positive attitude, a love of learning and a willingness to tackle whatever comes your way
  • You are willing to relocate to (if not already residing) the area.

Compensation & benefits

As a Graduate of Cement Australia, you will receive a salary package of AUD 88,000 to AUD 91,000 inclusive of Super, as well as the following benefits:

  • The cost of your Engineering Graduates Professional Accreditation fee – covered by them (AUD 600 per year back in your pocket!)
  • Plus, many other benefits that include novated leasing, product discounts, EAP programs and parental leave

Training & development

They will connect you with mentors and provide opportunities to network with other graduates. As a future leader of the business, it is important to them that you do “real work” and therefore you’ll be exposed to the full cycle of their operations. You’ll also have the opportunity to meet with, engage and present to senior leaders in their business to help develop those important soft skills to complement your technical knowledge.

Why apply for their program?

  • Gain experience across the full asset and maintenance lifecycle
  • A truly hands-on role that will help learn and develop new skills as an engineer
  • Solve real issues and develop to your full potential
  • Be part of a supportive team that will help you achieve your goals
  • Learn from people who are experts in their field and want to share their knowledge
  • On-the-job and structured learning
