Your role

This is an internship opportunity that will put you into a real-life Data Centre environment and pique your passion and interest in pursuing a career in Engineering, Asset Maintenance, Facilities or Operations Management. 

Here’s a snapshot of your day as an Intern - Associate Engineer:

  • Trained in the operation and maintenance of all critical facility systems. Areas include Electrical, Mechanical, Building Monitoring, and Control.
  • Assist in monitoring the Facilities Operations Centre.
  • Guided by the Lead Engineer and ensured that BMS, Chiller control system, and Fire System alarms were responded to in a timely manner.
  • Under guidance and support, assist with operating, monitoring, maintaining, and responding to abnormal conditions in critical facility systems.
  • Assist in performing preventative, corrective, and emergency maintenance on state-of-the-art medium and low voltage high availability power systems.
  • Assist in ensuring all subcontractors are inducted and permitted to work within the Critical Environment domain
  • Assist in ensuring that the Facilities Operations Centre, library, stores, and workshop are always clean and tidy.
  • Adherence to all quality, health & safety, environmental, and energy policies within the Critical Environment domain.
  • Assist with reporting health and safety breaches through the ‘HAZARD’ process.
  • Learn about and become familiar with site escalation procedures and the Abnormal Incident Reporting process.
  • Create work orders from the Computerised Maintenance Management System and ensure that vendors follow through to carry out and complete the Work Orders and submit the relevant service reports.
  • Assist with the generation of weekly reporting

About you

Here's what CBRE is looking for in this role:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical/ Electrical Engineering or related degree
  • An interest in learning about the electrical and mechanical systems used in a data centre environment
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client service skills.
  • Interest and ability to learn about Health & Safety Risk Assessments and Control Measures.
  • Organized and able to effectively prioritize and deliver within dynamic and high-pressure, business-critical environments.
  • IT and Computer Savvy
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work on own initiative.
  • A team player, able to work with the team and client’s staff of all levels.
