Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate, or someone nearing completion of an engineering university degree. This position is ideal for a candidate looking to start their career with the world leader Caterpillar on products that generate and process large amounts of data from sensors, onboard models, and control algorithms in real-time creating real-world machine usage information. As part of the overall digital strategy, Caterpillar has developed an integrated family of machine-based information technology products that interconnect machines to provide real-time guidance, tracking, monitoring, and supervisory control of the operational mining fleet.  This family of products is branded MineStar. The MineStar product range links with other mining and business information systems and is an integral part of the Mining Technology-Enabled Solutions vision.

This is a developmental role and successful candidates will be trained and supported in system design, software development, solution validation, and system troubleshooting. You will join a supportive team that will provide ongoing mentoring and coaching as you grow in your career. JOB DUTIES:

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

 Working within an Agile product development group: 

  • Work in a small team, as part of a larger software delivery organization, to develop software, test, on time and to requirements 
  • Participate in the Agile software engineering process, including stand-ups, grooming, sprint planning, and reviews 
  • Leverage existing frameworks to develop backend services 

 BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: 

  • A bachelor’s degree in an accredited Engineering or Computer Science curriculum, automation technologies, and application development. 
  • Must have strong problem-solving skills, analytical skills, and the ability to communicate technical information effectively
  • Strong data analysis and system integration skills are needed
  • Ability to keep up with industry trends and new technology breakthroughs is important.
