Your role

As a Graduate Operations Engineer, you will be expected to perform to the competence requirements listed below with respect to the design /development of Oilfield Sub Surface Components, Systems, or Controls.

You will also be responsible for mentoring and training less experienced designers on the following:

  • Supporting integrated service lead with controls request through the workshop.
  • Providing technical and service support to the workshop during scope execution.
  • Attending customer meetings and providing feedback on scopes of work with the project team.
  • Creating work packs for delegation, reviewing detailed drawings, test procedures and spares.
  • Creating Layouts, Specifying functional components, evaluating stack-ups, supporting manufacturing, and undertaking basic calculations.
  • Interpreting customer engineering specifications to produce scopes of work, layouts, detail and assembly designs.
  • Developing conceptual design requirements and layouts for review following company design process management (DPM) protocols.
  • Developing general design specifications for interpretation by other engineers and designers.
  • Retrieving and submitting data in PDM link software following company protocols.
  • Supporting detailed designs for manufacture and participating in and creating material for design reviews including materials and environmental reviews using relevant software to prepare general drawings.
  • Creating a Bill of Materials (BOM) in the documentation system, for approval by Engineers.
  • Undertaking design verification, which may include but is not limited to Tolerance studies, design reliability, design for manufacture, simple failure analysis, design reviews, and simple calculations for basic design Verification purposes.
  • Identifying improvements in existing products, procedures and processes and developing cost-effective solutions to satisfy specifications.
  • Creating/Reviewing basic factory acceptance (FAT) procedures, prototype Test Procedures and document results (PVT) for approval by Engineers.
  • Interpreting basic pressure vessel and structural engineering calculations for design layout purposes.
  • Ensuring all design activities and documents are correctly archived in the electronic document management system.
  • Understanding and applying design for manufacture principles to ensure designs are suitable and allow for efficient manufacture and assembly.
  • Being capable to conduct hands-on support to enable learning growth.
  • Willing to travel onshore and offshore to complete scopes of work.
