Your role:

As a Wellbeing Officer, you will enter the Navy as qualified member of the human services sector, working at sea and ashore. You'll work together with religious chaplains and be responsible for providing non-religious pastoral care and spiritual support to all Navy members and their families. Additionally, you will be responsible for conducting civil ceremonies and secular services for a range of occasions including individual and ceremonial events.

You will also have a role in advising on ethical and moral issues affecting the workforce and will take part in character development responsibilities in the training of all personnel.

Salary:

Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you'll enjoy a salary package starting from $103,960.

For this role, you must:

  • Be an Australian Citizen and under 56 years of age on day of entry.
  • Be able to obtain Security Clearance
  • You will need to hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant human services field such as:*
    • Social Sciences
    • Social Work
    • Psychology
    • Counselling
    • Nursing with a post-graduate qualification in Mental health
  • At least two full years of pastoral care experience.
  • In addition to the minimum requirement of 2 years pastoral care experience, you would also need to provide evidence of either:
    • 400hrs clinical Pastoral Experience through a recognised provider
    • L2 membership with the Australian Counselling Association
    • Clinical Membership of Psychotherapy and Counselling federation of Australia
    • Non Provisional Registration as a Psychologist with AHPRA
    • Membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers
    • A combination of organised pastoral/ social engagement that includes 450 hrs of face to face pastoral engagement and 20 hrs of face to face supervision

*Academic records must reflect completed units in psychology, mental health, counselling and / or pastoral care.
