Your role:
Your primary role as an Aeronautical Engineer (known in the Navy as an Aerospace Engineer) is to manage the maintenance and airworthiness of the Navy's helicopters, operating at the leading edge of aerospace engineering. This position provides the opportunity to gain responsibility early in your career and develop expertise in helicopter structures, material, engine and aerodynamics, helicopter electrical systems, communication systems, navigation systems, weapons systems and software.
Comprehensive Navy training will equip you with the skills and knowledge to maintain this advanced aviation technology and you'll work with the latest tools and systems.
Working with MH-60R Seahawks, MRH-90 Taipans and flight simulators, you'll become a technical expert at one of the Navy's Fleet Air Arm helicopter squadrons, or one of the Navy's amphibious ships.
As a maintenance manager at one of the Navy's Fleet Air Arm helicopter squadrons, you'll lead and manage a team of highly trained aviation technicians and be responsible for one or more of the technical aviation departments.
Working on one of the Navy's Canberra-class amphibious ships, you'll be responsible for managing the ship's aviation engineering department.
As a Navy Engineer, you'll have the opportunity to continue your professional learning right throughout your career. The professional development you gain through the Navy enables automatic Chartered Engineer (CPENg) accreditation with Engineers Australia, giving you international recognition of your engineer competency.

Salary:
Upon completion of your initial military and initial employment training, you'll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to $96,005 including service and uniform allowances, as well as a Maritime Allowance (if applicable).
In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental.

For this role, you must be over 17 at time of enlistment, an Australian Citizen and must be able to provide evidence that you are enrolled in or close to completing a Bachelor of Engineering in either Aeronautical, Avionics, Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic or Mechatronics Engineering.
