This is your opportunity to join a dynamic, people-focussed organisation that offers great lifestyle and opportunities you won’t find anywhere else, all whilst having your remaining study sponsored, earning a salary as you complete your degree and having a guaranteed job following graduation.

Your role

As an Electronics Engineer in the Air Force, you’ll play an integral role supervising the maintenance of state-of-the-art aircraft, managing airborne power systems, avionics, sonar, radar and communication systems.

There are two streams to this role, Aviation or Networks, so your day-to-day work will vary depending on which stream you are in.

In the Aviation stream, you’ll mainly be responsible for the avionics (electronics and internal systems) on aircraft that allow them to fly. This includes a range of systems including power generation and distribution, radar and navigation, surveillance, electronic control, mission, communications, and electronic warfare.

In the Networks stream, you’ll primarily work on IT & network equipment that helps the Air Force stay connected within the organisation, and to others. It’s your duty to ensure every aircraft in the sky and all the personnel and equipment on the ground can communicate regardless of location.

On top of this, as an Air Force Officer you’ll be trained to become an inspirational leader and mentor; adept at effectively communicating with and managing teams, with a comprehensive knowledge of Air Force attitudes, values and military protocols and procedures.

Salary

This is your opportunity to be paid a competitive salary as you study at the university of your choice. Not to mention, you’ll receive other benefits like rental allowance, textbook reimbursement and assistance with your HELP fees.

Upon commencing the program, your salary will be between $35,326 - $54,166 plus 16.4% superannuation depending on the completion status of your course.

On completion of your degree and initial training, you could earn $90,629 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation.

Location

Upon completion of your training in Victoria and New South Wales, you may be posted to one of the major Air Force bases around Australia such as RAAF Base Amberley, RAAF Base Williamtown or RAAF Base Edinburgh.

Life in the Air Force

When you join the Air Force, you’ll benefit from our investment in your professional growth and development, enjoy great work/life balance, a supportive team environment and extensive benefits – from free healthcare to excellent fitness facilities. Plus, there’s the potential for overseas travel.

In addition, there’s the meaningful experiences that come with serving your country. From participating in Air Force exercises and operations to providing support to communities in need, this is your opportunity to take on a career with many rewarding dimensions.
