Your role:

As a Logistics and Finance Officer (known in the Navy as Maritime Logistics Officers), you will form a trusted part of the leadership team providing quality logistical advice to Navy Commanders. You will find yourself contributing to something much larger than a company's bottom line while being surrounded by a Navy community that will support and encourage your self-development.

You'll be responsible for managing a team that supports whole ship operations such as flight deck management. You'll also manage the availability and delivery of everything from catering supplies to ammunition – it could be spare parts for helicopters, new uniforms, provisions for a major deployment, or delivery of state of the art missiles. On a base, you'll also handle operational logistics (national and international), major projects and capabilities, essential support for Navy and Defence platforms, logistics policy, training and career management.

This job requires good planning, the foresight to anticipate potential problems, and critical thinking to solve challenges. Your decisions have a flow-on effect on the rest of the ship, so making the right call, even under pressure, is imperative. But this job isn't done alone. You'll lead a highly skilled and qualified team, who will support you to make the right logistical decisions.

You'll receive world-class training that will enable you to confidently lead teams to provide complex logistic support for Navy missions and be a mentor to junior personnel.

Life in the Navy:

A career in the Navy is a challenging and highly rewarding working environment that comes with a good work/life balance, competitive salary and skills for life. You can expect to feel a unique sense of accomplishment and pride from serving and protecting our country and helping to keep our vast coastlines safe.

Life in the Navy is anything but mundane. You'll enjoy a varied lifestyle, rewarding career, opportunities to travel, and excellent social and fitness facilities, free medical and dental; all in a dynamic and fulfilling working environment.

Don't worry, it's not all life at sea—there's more to the Navy than ships, submarines and helicopters. Some days, you might be exploring exciting new countries with your fellow crewmates. Other days, you could be stationed locally not too far from home.

Salary:

When you first join the Navy and while studying for your degree at the university of your choice, you will be paid a salary of between $34,633 and $46,947 depending on your year of study. This is in addition to your university sponsorship.

Upon completion of your initial military and employment training, you'll enjoy a competitive starting salary package of up to: $99,216, which includes a maritime allowance when serving at sea.

In addition to your salary, you will receive generous superannuation, housing subsidies and free medical and dental care.
