Your role:

As an Infantry Soldier, you are the first line of defence for the Australian Army and you'll be an integral member of a close-knit and highly trained combat team.

No experience is required, you just need the right attitude and personal drive to step up to the challenge. You'll receive world-class training from day one as you learn unique combat tactics and build skills to effectively achieve your mission.

You'll learn to carry out patrols and surveillance tasks, cordon and search tasks as well the skills required to provide security for other units and agencies. You'll learn how to locate enemy targets, fight at close quarters and how to effectively seize and hold ground.

The tools of your trade will include high-powered rifles, machine guns, grenade launchers, light weaponry and night fighting equipment. As you progress in your career you will have opportunities to strengthen your skills and specialise in roles such as a Mortarman or Sniper.

Location:

Following your initial military training, you could be posted to one of the many Army bases and units across Australia. The majority of these positions are located in QLD, NSW, SA and the NT. It's not possible to guarantee a specific posting location for the duration of your service, therefore you must be willing to relocate.

Salary:

In the Army, you'll get paid a competitive salary from day one regardless of your age, experience or qualifications. Upon commencing training, your starting salary will be approximately $50,272 per annum plus 16.4% superannuation and your pay will increase as you progress through training.

On completion of your initial military training and initial employment training, you could earn $68,294 per annum plus a generous super.

For this role, you must be an Australian citizen, over 17 at the time of enlistment and have completed an Australian Year 10 education (or equivalent) with passes in English and Mathematics.
