Your role:
Intensivists play an integral role in the Army Reserve. In this role, you'll work primarily in the intensive care unit of a field hospital that is fully equipped with critical care equipment such as, modern ICU ventilators, invasive haemodynamic monitoring, echocardiography, and a complete critical care formulary.
You'll have the opportunity to work on training exercises and operational deployments, attending to trauma patients and providing specialist medical expertise. Intensivists in the Army Reserve also support their colleagues in the emergency department and operating theatres, granting you the opportunity to expand your knowledge of critical care medicine.
You'll work autonomously, with a team, and as a leader. Plus you'll gain experience you won't get anywhere else.
If you're a passionate Intensivist ready to take on an exciting part-time challenge, this could be the perfect accompaniment to your full-time career.
Salary:
The pay you receive in the Army Reserve goes straight into your pocket with no deductions for tax, and it increases as you gain seniority and experience.
On completion of your initial military and employment training, you could earn a package worth at least $877.56/day tax-free.
Additional amounts are paid for time spent on exercises and deployments.
Life in the Army Reserve:
Thousands of men and women enjoy part-time roles with the Army Reserve, operating alongside full-time Army personnel. The only difference is that your commitment is flexible.
Initial training can be undertaken in 2 week modules to give you flexibility around your normal work commitments. You will need to serve a minimum of 20 days per year. Following this your service could involve a commitment of one night a week or fortnight and a few weekends a year. There may even be the opportunity for, extended periods away.
We do our best to make sure this fits in with your work and family commitments; and deployments are voluntary so if you choose to stay local, there are plenty of ways to make a difference closer to home. And with no minimum period of service, you can leave the Army Reserve whenever you like.
Apply now:
For this role, you must hold Fellowship of the College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand and a full, unrestricted registration with AHPRA to practice as an Intensivist.
