About the role:

Established in 2013, the Legal Analyst team is the core of the Advanced Solutions community of Ashurst Advance and is dedicated to producing legal work for the firm and clients most efficiently and innovatively possible.

The role will give you great exposure to high-quality commercial and legal work across Corporate, Projects, Real Estate, Strategic Advisory, Finance Restructuring and Consulting and provide you the opportunity to apply and develop your skills across a broader range of clients and industries than what you would traditionally have access to in a legal role. Apart from the legal and commercial skills you will develop in your day-to-day work with the practice groups and clients you will also be provided support and training from Subject Matter experts, Lawyers and Senior Associates in Ashurst Advance and have access to the firm's award-winning Learning & Development programs. The role also provides a flexible career with the opportunity to move into roles within the Ashurst Advance network via pathways for eDiscovery, Legal Technology, Legal Operations and possibly Legal Associate pathways.

Applications are open from 13th November 2024 to 26th November 2024. You will be required to submit a short application including uploading your CV, and transcripts, and answering two short answer questions.

Pros and cons of working at Ashurst

Pros

  • Investment in graduates who are early on in their careers is fantastic. Partners and senior lawyers are largely willing to mentor and take the time to give graduates opportunities to truly experience what their practice is like.

  • Being a part of a very supportive work environment, where I feel part of a team and valued as an employee.

  • Graduate culture and team environment surpasses other top tier firms with the opportunity to get involved with clients from the very beginning.

  • Strong remuneration Strong culture of junior support and continued learning. The firm puts a lot of time and resources into preparing academies and seminars to ensure graduates are informed and educated on their areas outside of just knowing how to perform the tasks.

  • The people are wonderful, and the work is of a very high quality. The international aspect is wonderful as it gives you exposure to numerous practice areas and people, as well as plenty of opportunities to work abroad.

Cons

    • Some of the technology used by the firm is outdated and needs to be modernised

    • Being an international firm means that sometimes general decisions are made that do not provide the best outcomes locally.

    • The hours can fluctuate but this is usually market driven.

    • Hours can sometimes be long, but rarely have they been unreasonable.

    • Due to the nature of working at a top-tier, high-performing law firm, the hours can be quite long and taxing as well as the balance of life and work commitments.
