I reached the office at 8.25 am. It’s the middle of autumn in Melbourne so the mornings are quite cold!

8.30 AM

I set up my desk for the day and chatted to some of the others in our office. Its great being in a big team with so many graduates and juniors.

 
9.00 AM

I continued working on a research task relating to the enforcement of a foreign judgment in Australia.  The work that we do in the dispute resolution team is very diverse which I really enjoy.  We work on all types of disputes, including class actions and regulatory work. 

11.30 AM

I went for a coffee with a Senior Associate in my team. We have frequent mentoring coffees with senior lawyers in our team.  These are a great opportunity to learn from more experienced lawyers.

12.00 PM

I had a chat with one of the graduates in my team to discuss some work we are doing.

 
1.00 PM

I heated up my food and had my lunch in the break room. Our café has stunning views across the Yarra River and is always vibing at lunch time.

2.00 PM

After lunch I attended a CLE. Today we had a guest presenter who spoke about mediations.

3.00 PM

I delivered a brief to counsel. Delivering briefs is always enjoyable and a great opportunity to get some fresh air.

3.30 PM

Katelyn, our Early Careers consultant, and I had an afternoon catchup. Having a friendly and approachable Early Careers consultant is very helpful in adjusting to work life at a large law firm.

 
4.00 PM

I finished compiling an affidavit bundle for one of the lawyers in our team.

5.00 PM

I submitted my time for the day and packed up my desk.

 
5.15 PM

I went downstairs for Friday night drinks.  The graduates organized the event tonight, which was carnival themed and so much fun! There was a great turnout across the Melbourne office.
