About Activision Australia

Activision Blizzard, Inc. is one of the world's largest and most successful interactive entertainment companies. It is at the intersection of media, technology, and entertainment. The company is home to some of the most beloved entertainment franchises, including Call of Duty®, World of Warcraft®, Overwatch®, Diablo®, Candy Crush™, and Bubble Witch™. Its combined entertainment network delights hundreds of millions of monthly active users in 196 countries, making it the largest gaming network on the planet.

Your role

Sledgehammer Games is situated in the San Francisco Bay Area, Melbourne, Australia, Toronto, Canada, and Guildford, UK. Across its four locations, the studio strives to be the most inclusive and supportive game studio it can be.

The studio is extremely passionate about working together to make incredible AAA games for its players to enjoy and connect with. It is the studio behind Call of Duty®: Modern Warfare 3, Call of Duty®: Advanced Warfare, Call of Duty®: WWII, and Call of Duty®: Vanguard. With world-class audio, design, engineering, and art teams, the studio has been able to achieve some of the highest-quality game execution of any studio in the industry.

As an Animation Intern, you will work with an incredible team to create in-game and cinematic animations that are believable and refined. You will complete animation tasks that contribute to the player’s understanding of characters and action, and that advance the emotional and gameplay goals of their game.

You will build relationships with people in other departments and participate in a studio culture that values collaboration and learning. You will work with a mentor on a shipping title, and earn a AAA credit in the process. This role is anticipated to be assigned to work fully on-site at their Southbank, Melbourne studio.

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like theirs, so this role includes but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Use animation techniques to craft realistic game motions
  • Respond to feedback and iterate on animations to achieve AAA levels of polish
  • Keyframe animation sequences
  • Clean up mocap

Training & development

Activision offers two different summer internship programs that give students the opportunity to spend their summer working full-time in gaming. The internships are fully paid, and students will receive everything they need to grow professionally and contribute from day one.

Benefits

In addition to a robust summer program designed to help interns grow in their discipline, Activision offers a competitive compensation package, housing assistance, travel support for relocating, and the perks of working at the company. These perks include Q&A with studio leaders, awesome company swag, discounted copies of Activision's games, and invitations to company-sponsored events and game launches. Ultimately, Activision's goal is to give its employees everything they need to succeed in their roles and launch their careers in gaming.

Work-life balance

Time away from work programs is available to support your personal well-being, ability to recharge, observe personal choice holidays, and take care of your family when needed. Activision Blizzard King provides generous vacation, sick time, floating holidays, company-observed holidays, and an annual winter shutdown for their employees.

Culture & vibe

Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) together create a sense of belonging where individuals can be their authentic selves and contribute their best.
